SMU Cox School of Business
When Southern Methodist University embarked on the renovation and expansion of the Cox School of Business, they required millwork that would reflect the institution’s commitment to excellence and create an environment worthy of one of the nation’s top business schools. FCS Dallas was selected to deliver comprehensive millwork services throughout this flagship academic facility.
The project showcased our expertise in large-scale institutional millwork, featuring extensive classical architectural elements throughout the building’s public spaces. Our craftsmen executed sophisticated column work, detailed crown molding systems, and custom wainscoting that creates the refined atmosphere expected in a premier business education environment.
In the main atrium, FCS Dallas delivered complex multi-story millwork installations including fluted columns, elaborate trim packages, and seamless integration with the building’s classical design elements. The precision required for these installations demanded expert measurement and templating to ensure perfect alignment across multiple floors.
The project also included specialized millwork for modern learning environments, featuring custom presentation walls with integrated technology housing, sophisticated acoustical millwork elements, and built-in cabinetry designed to support cutting-edge educational technology while maintaining the facility’s elegant aesthetic.
Our team coordinated closely with the general contractor and university facilities management to ensure installations proceeded without disrupting ongoing academic activities. The result is a stunning facility that enhances SMU’s reputation while providing functional, beautiful spaces for business education.
